Formula 1 Driver Changes for the 2025 Season
The most significant change among the major Formula 1 teams is of course Lewis Hamilton's move from Mercedes to Ferrari. Since 2013, he has won the Drivers' World Championship six times with Mercedes.
To make room for Hamilton, Carlos Sainz is moving from Ferrari to Williams. The British racing team finished ninth in the 2024 season with just 17 points.
Formula 2 Drivers get Promoted
Furthermore, some Formula 2 drivers are now moving up to Formula 1. Sixth-placed Formula 2 driver Kimi Antonelli will take the vacant seat at Mercedes alongside George Russell.
Jack Doohan will be Pierre Gasly's new teammate, replacing Esteban Ocon, who is moving to Haas. Doohan finished third in the Formula 2 drivers' standings in 2023.
Oliver Bearman (12th place in Formula 2) will form the new Haas team together with Esteban Ocon. Gabriel Bortoleto (1st place in Formula 2) will be Nico Hülkenberg's teammate at Kick Sauber. Sauber will therefore be competing with a completely new driver duo in 2025.

Career Start in Formula 2
As with previous Formula 1 games, it will probably be possible in F1 25 to start your driving career in a previous Formula 2 season and then eventually advance to the current Formula 1 season. The drivers in Formula 2 will then correspond to those in the past Formula 2 seasons.
