In the upcoming Factorio addon, you will no longer be exclusively on the planet Nauvis, but will be able to explore four other new planets. In this post, we'll introduce you to all of them.

Factorio has been on Steam since 2016 and since then players have been fighting against the evil biters on planet Nauvis. Eight years later, the first DLC for Factorio is finally coming and the game world is no longer limited to just one planet.

The new addon is called "Space Age" and will be released on October 21, 2024. There are many new planets on which you will establish your production as soon as you leave Nauvis with your first satellite.

Four new planets, each with extremely different survival conditions and special features are waiting for the player. They are called: Vulcanus, Fulgora, Gleba and possibly Aquilo.

Planet Vulcanus

Planet Vulcanus in Factorio: Space Age

As the name suggests, this planet is a hot volcanic landscape that will be your first landing after the rocket launch from Nauvis.

In the mountains of Vulcanus it is very dangerous, but you will find geysers that give off sulfuric acid and calcite, which you need for your production.

Another biome on Vulcanus is the flat ash landscapes, where you will find a lot of coal. Due to the slightly cooler conditions and the flat surfaces, this area is very suitable as a location for your production.

Convey the lava from the lava lakes into your new foundries, which are able to produce basic components such as iron plates, gears, copper plates and many other items directly through casting. This process also produces stones as a byproduct. This huge source of resources is the backbone of your interplanetary production in Space Age.

Later, you will use the foundries to extract tungsten to produce the important research bottles for metallurgy that you need for further progress.

With a new giant drill (13x13 squares!) you can not only mine the new tungsten, but also all the basic resources on the planet Nauvis. So expect nothing less than a small revolution in terms of mining speed!

Planet Fulgora

Planet Fulgora in Factorio: Space Age

The planet is characterized by its hostile environment: the thin, extremely cold and dry air, combined with constant sandstorms, makes survival difficult.

At night, the planet is hit by intense lightning storms that can even damage you and your buildings. At first, seek shelter between ruins to avoid being hit. Later, you can build lightning rods that will help you spread out safely. With later research, you can even use the energy of the lightning for your production.

The landscape on Fulgora consists of islands and huge areas of oil sand that act like quicksand. Only elevated rails and pumps can be built on this. Use a well-developed rail network to get from island to island and mine the valuable resources.

Collecting and recycling scrap is the primary way to gain resources on this planet. Scrap can be used to create many different components, such as circuits, solid fuel, steel, batteries, stones, gears, and copper wiring. Scrap can also be processed into valuable holmium ore, which only has a 1% chance of being gathered.

Planet Gleba

Planet Gleba in Factorio: Space Age

Planet Gleba is the complete opposite of the previous ones. Everything grows and thrives here, there is plenty of flora and fauna. Huge mushrooms, lichens and mycelium networks grow in a dense, swampy landscape. Here you mainly produce products from organic resources.

The agricultural tower makes it possible to automatically harvest trees and plant them again. This allows fruits to be gathered, which is then processed into seeds and mash in assembly machines.

In the biochamber, fruits are processed into raw materials such as carbon fiber and "bioflux". During the entire production process, you fight against the decay of the fruits, as they are biomass. Depending on the item, it will spoil faster, which should encourage you to process them as quickly as possible.

Gleba is home to spider-like creatures that are out to kill you. While the "Wrigglers" are small and become annoying due to their sheer numbers, there are also the "Strafers" who tend to stay at a distance and spawn flying Wrigglers. The "Stompers" on the other hand are really tanky and attack at close range with their stomp attack.

Planet Aquilo

Nothing is known about this planet yet. Be sure to check back later!
