The Giants Engine V10 brings small and large improvements to the game engine that are intended to make the gaming experience even more realistic. Stefan Geiger has already presented many of the new graphics improvements at FarmCon 24.
Improved Display of Weather Effects
One of the most noticeable changes concerns the weather effects. The fog display has been completely reworked: the fog not only looks thicker and more realistic, but also shows particles in the air. It is particularly impressive how the fog now accumulates in valleys and along bodies of water, which makes the landscape appear much more atmospheric.
The sun reflections in the fog enhance this effect, creating stunning lighting effects through the so-called God Rays effect. Although fog was present in previous versions of the game, the new engine brings a much more intense and realistic representation.
When it rains, this should also look more realistic. Water drops form on surfaces and windows, and wet mud and slush collect on the tires of the vehicles.
Dynamic Shadows
Dynamic shadows created by passing clouds as well as soft shadows in the distance also contribute to the enhanced atmosphere.
Headlights on vehicles now also cast realistic shadows. Giants does not simulate each headlight shadow individually. Headlights that point in roughly the same direction are bundled for shadow calculation and only cast one shadow - this saves performance costs.
More Accurate Paint Colors and Realistic Reflections
The game also brings significant improvements to the vehicle surfaces. Paint, colors and reflections have been revised so that the machines are now even more faithful to the original.
In combination with the improved weather effects and the realistic representation of mud that collects on the tires when it rains, a harmonious overall picture of the fleet in LS25 is created in any weather condition.
Improvements to Map Terrain
Another major advancement is the improved terrain engine. Maps are now created with a resolution of 1 meter, compared to the previous 2 meters. This allows maps to be made even more varied and detailed.
Loving details, such as the furrows left by vehicle tires on the field, elicited great applause from the audience at this year's FarmCon.
More Detailed Representation of Assets
The representation of trees has also been optimized – they appear more realistic from different angles and even trees in the distance should now be displayed in more detail.
In addition to the graphical improvements, performance has also been optimized. Denser representations of foliage and crops such as wheat are now possible without affecting game speed. Smaller data sizes and more efficient rendering ensure higher frame rates and a smoother gaming experience.
The Giants Engine V10 allows the LS 25 to take another big step forward in terms of performance and appearance. It will be exciting for both newcomers to the FS and long-standing fans to discover all these small and large details.
