For those who find it too annoying to click through 300 thirst with short 10-minute quests, there is now a suitable alternative: Expeditions. Choose between a short quest or use up all your thirst at once with a long quest.
The best thing about the new quest mode: It doesn't matter whether you choose the long quest or many short ones; the rewards are always the same. So if you don't have much time, you can click through your entire thirst in one go with a long quest.
How Expeditions work
During an expedition, you click through a total of 10 clearings, with an enemy awaiting you after every 5 clearings in one of the 21 quest areas (you can see the quest areas before starting the quest).
In each clearing you can choose between three encounters, each of which will give you a different amount of heroism. You can see the heroism for the encounter in the small circle below the encounter. The aim of the expedition is to collect as much heroism as possible in order to gain the maximum bonus for experience points at the end.
Heroism | Stars | Extra experience points |
---|---|---|
less than 20 | - | - |
20 or more | ✰ | 10% |
30 or more | ✰✰ | 20% |
40 or more | ✰✰✰ | 35% |
During your expedition, you try to click a predetermined encounter in order to complete your task. If you manage to do this, you will receive a bonus in heroism. You can see the task in the large circle at the top left, and your previously collected encounters in the inventory next to it.
Once you have defeated the first monster after the fifth clearing, you can choose one of three rewards. For the second monster, you will also receive loot, including the XP bonus for your accumulated heroism.
Related Encounters
Many encounters are directly related to a later encounter. To find out the sequence of your current encounters, click on the info icon. It's worth knowing the connected monsters, because there is often a big reward at the end.
Encounters | Heroism |
---|---|
Key → Treasure Chest (contains loot) | 0 → 0 |
Chicken Drumstick → Suckling Pig | 3 → 5 |
Bait → Dragon | -2 → 10 |
Campfire → Phoenix → Burnt-out Campfire | 3 → 5 → 0 |
Horn → Donkey → Rainbow → Unicorn | 1 → 3 → 5 → 7 |
Small Hurdle → Big Hurdle → Winners’ podium | -1 → -2 → 15 |
Socks → Cloth Pile → Couple | 0 → 0 → 12 |
Sword in Stone → Bent Sword → Broken Sword | 5 → 2 → -5 |
Cauldron → Witch → Witch's Brew | 2 → -5 → 15 |
Fairy Fountain → Polluted Fairy Fountain | 8 → -5 |
Hand → Feet → Body → Klaus | -5 → -5 → -5 → 35 |
So you see, it can be worthwhile to play for encounters with negative heroism, because it may pay off later in the expedition. The chicken leg with the suckling pig has a special interaction, because they reduce the number of encounters in the next clearing by 1 or 2.
Bounties
Bounties are extremely rewarding if you find the requested encounter. If you choose a bounty, you'll receive 10 extra Heroism for the encounter you're looking for! There are bounties for the following encounters:
- Burnt-out Campfire
- Broken Sword
- Dummy
- Dragon
- Unicorn
- Witch's Brew
- Klaus
- Couple
- Winners' podium
- Polluted Fairy Fountain
Disable Expeditions
If you don't want to play expeditions but rather the old quests, you can change this in the settings. Expeditions are the default setting for new accounts.
To do this, go to:
Settings -> Gameplay -> Quests instead of expeditions
You can only change this setting if you have not used up any thirst for adventure that day.
